The Effect of Uneducated Women

Uneducated women have several effects to their life, not only caused a trouble to the housewife life but also to the career life. For development country like Indonesia, women’s education still need a concern. Based on statistic in 2010, the rate of literacy capability for women is still below the men. Only 90.52% of women can read while men got 95.65%. The average education periode for women also lower than men. Average number for women to get formal education is 7.5 years, while men in 8.34 years. The lack of education for women can cause several bad effects that can give disadvantages whether to herself, her family or to the community.

First, uneducated women will not be able to educate her children. It is not only bad for cognitive aspect’s children but also their main character. Women as a mother is the first school for the children. They should teach their children how to think and develop their potential. In fact it will be hard if the mother does not get a proper education. The most terrible thing is when women can not manage the house  beside highly dependent with her husband, it can be an opportunity to a violence.

Second, uneducated women usualy work without a proper salary and good treatment. Their capability and effectivity in working area is linear with the achievement from the company to them. Because they cannot explore their mind to give an idea, they act like a robot in the working place. Therefore, they get lower salary than a standard. For example, one of home industries in Bandung, they recruit employee women that have a low education. Most of them are not graduated from elementary school. They are paid only Rp 25,000 or US $1,87 for working from 7 am to 5 pm. Beside, ten working hours, they handle heavy things such as haul hundred sacks of peanuts and stir hundred gallons of jam. Without any health insurance, they get rude shout from their boss instead.
